I was just thinking about people's handwriting the other day, and wondering if a handwriting meme would make it's way around again sometime soon when [info]jaakov posted this one. I just had to do it.

The Questions and a Picture of My Answers )

So yes, I am that person that actually took handwriting/cursive lessons seriously in school and writes that way most of the time. Though I guess to be fair, I didn't really start doing that until high school. It started out as a way to hide my atrocious spelling, particularly in french class, but I quickly decided that I thought it was prettier than my printing. I think it comes from my obsession with all things Victorian, which incidentally also dates back to high school.

I have finished the first stage of my swap bag. I'm super happy with the results of the color work although the shape is a little wonky. I think I managed to block most of the wonkyness out, but we will see after it dries. I guess this means I need to get my butt to JoAnns to get some fabric for the lining and a zipper. Or maybe a button. I'm not sure what kind of closure to use yet. Anyone have a preference for their bags?

First, [info]glowwormtu's bridal tea went very well. Ten people ended up coming which was a nice number. Really it was just sitting, talking, eating, and a little bit of opening presents -- but that was the point -- a low key afternoon. I was even thanked for the lack of silly games. I also have my dress all sorted, so I just need to get a wrap and it is on the the wedding.

I played receptionist for three hours at work today. The girl who was in charge of relieving the receptionist on her breaks left two weeks ago, so a variety of people around the office have been helping out. Today; however, the full time receptionist was sick, so they were scrounging around to find people to cover all day. I was apparently the least bill-able person for the hours of 11:30 - 2:30, so I got stuck up front. It was kind of interesting.

First, I got to read the first eight chapters of Mockingjay. At work. Not really what I would want to do everyday, but for a Friday afternoon every once in a while, not bad. Then there was some guy, who I don't know (and this is a pretty small office) who was running all over the place looking for his cell phone. He even showed me the app on his computer that showed it was somewhere in the building, and for some reason he needed pliers. I'm not sure that part was related to the cell phone. I even got to receive three different shipments. Who knew.

Probably the saddest part of the whole day, was the shear number of people who felt the need to comment on how I was doing a better job than the person who's job it actually is, in a "why is this so hard for her" sort of way (rather than a "I think you should take over this" sort of way). I feel bad. So yeah, not all that exciting, but this means I posted something a whole three days in a row.

Every year in New Orleans, the last weekend of April and the first weekend in May are taken up by Jazz Fest. It sort of becomes all anyone talks about whether they go or not, and most people I know don't end up going. Well, my choir always does a tie in even of Gospel Sunday on the May weekend for services. The song we're doing this year I didn't initially like, but it has really grown on me, so I thought I'd share it here. This is not at all my choir.

I got my first RSVP call today for [info]glowwormtu's bridal shower today, okay that is not exactly true I did get one earlier text message from the other Bridesmaid (who wasn't one at the time -- its a long story). And I do know the status of a handful of other people, but more on that later. I sent the invitations out at the end of March and set the RSVP by date to April 30th, so I guess everyone is waiting until the last minute. Thats fine.

Actually what I find really funny is that people don't seem to understand how to RSVP. I mean I supplied my phone number at the bottom of the invitation with the expectation that you would call me. The majority of the people that I know the status for now have called the bride who then passed that information on to me. She is not supposed to have to deal with this except for showing up -- and my phone number was right there!

Then at least one person has said (again to the bride not to me) that she didn't RSVP because she has people coming to town. Um, that is precisely a reason to RSVP. Presumably your guests mean that you can't come and I would like to know that so I can give the tea-house an accurate count of the who will be there. This is not in my backyard, I can't just mix you another drink. Everything has to be ordered and arranged in advance. So yeah. Small Rant, but mostly I'm just amused.

In other things which amuse me, I was a runner-up for the most welcoming claw award in our superlatives, which I find funny since I don't think I'm that welcoming (most logical on the other hand, I totally get, and I'm glad that the person I lost out to was the person I nominated). Not that I'm unwelcoming, but I rarely comment to new people posts, I don't leave special welcoming messages in my sorting posts, and I rarely speak in chat unless spoken to first. I'm at a loss. I was way more at a loss about the "biggest social butterfly award" nom but then no-one voted for me, so that put my world view back on the right track. I feel like someone was smoking the bad crack the day they nominated.

So HIH people, I have a thing on which I would like some advice. I have an official application all (well mostly) filled out. It has a rather different tone than than the other official applications I voted on in my admittedly few (two) terms of voting. I kind of want someone to someone to look it over and assure me that is not too out of line (or to tell me that it is in fact way out of line and I should do something about that before it pisses everyone off). Is there some way to go about that that anyone knows of?

I got my [info]hh_writersblock exchange assignment. In a moment of weakness, or possibly madness I'm not sure, I signed up after the relatively good experience of the LAS challenge. This is going to be my one time of freaking out over this --- FREAK, FREAK, OMG WHAT DID I DO? FREAK, FREAK --- and then I am just going to buckle down and get this done. *Breath* I can do this.

I even think I have an idea Look at me with the boundary expansion, even if they are silly self imposed boundaries.
